volthair one&two package! woop woop [Dec. 18th, 2009|01:20 am]

Woah, I'm so excited. I finally got around to doing this. Making copies and getting the packaging together. Also, I wanted to make some nice prints as a holiday gift. Whew.. and here it is, ta da!

This Includes:
Volthair #1: My intentions are Good
Volthair #2: The Crane Zine
One free print!

Volthair #1: My Intentions are Good
: This first zine is about my first year of college, some of my tangent past, getting over my first boy attachment, meeting new and old souls, and searching for the sake of searching. Most of it's about trying. A dirty bathroom wall once said "my intentions are good." These are seamless intentions within us are just tumbling life's events, that's all. 1/4 size, 50 Pages

Volthair #2:The Zine Crane
is about the hot Austin summer of 2008 to the 2009 cold spring. It is about the young throws of unlikely love, the life of a pbs intern, a long road trip away from Austin, happenings, more happenings, feelings of death, the age of seventeen and the search for quality. It is furthermore, what are attempts to remember details and stories. Whenever anything seems disorienting, please know these are my hands folding and unfolding a crane. I am trying to remember my history and my experiences, fold by fold. 1/4 size, 48 pages

Email me if you're interested at volthair at gmail dot com!
You can also order them on my website!

cross posted- my apologies

Know any queer rural zines? x-post (if this doesn't belong/breaks rules, sorry; tell me&I'll delete) [Dec. 20th, 2008|02:32 am]

[mood |hopefulhopeful]

Sorry if this doesn't belong here, but my friend Jenna (a.k.a. trashcan_chica) needs some help:

"does anyone know of any queer zines about living in rural areas or going to rural areas?

any help/pointing in the right direction would be amazing. i went through the whole Queer Zine Archive and couldn't really find anything.

jenna b

p.s. i just got a wordpress site, sassyfrasscircus.com!"

Her (AIM) away message also says: "is looking for zines about/by members of radical queer ANTI-URBAN communities, so if you know of any..."

So please comment if you can help at all; thanks. :]

your dirty unwanted receipts for a zine! yay [Oct. 15th, 2008|12:27 pm]

Greeting Everyone!
If you haven't gotten my latest zine, VOLT HAIR #1: My intentions are good, here is another opportunity! I'm working on a new art project and I need lots and lots of receipts! Lots! Mail me a bag of receipt and I'll send you a zine and something cool.

VOLT HAIR #1: My intentions are good.
Is a perzine I worked on for about 3 and half months. I am most proud of it. I have the first copy in a box and I like to take it out and say, 'yay, this is the best, most sincere thing i've ever written with cool collages and pictures."

email me at kathytran3@gmail.com or respond if interested!

i need your help! [Oct. 6th, 2008|01:03 pm]

My name is Zac. I'm a first-year student at UT. I'm also a member of the first ever Feminism Now. In this we're working on an action project -- a project that is meant to involve the surrounding community. Me and a couple of friend decided we wanted to create a zine for our project.

This zine is going to work on unlearning things like homophobia, sexism, racism, and classism. We want first-person pieces to show directly how this sort of hatred is hurting not only individuals, but the growth of society around us.

This Friday, October the sixth, I have to present an interview. I've talked to a few people about this and after looking at this community, I think help from someone here would be incredible. I know it's short notice, but I was wondering if I could e-mail you a list of questions for you to answer that I could present to my class.

I'm so sorry I didn't ask about this earlier, so I will understand if you can't help me. But if you could, I would forever appreciate it. It would be so helpful to all of us.

Thank you for listening to me and reading this.

Hi everyone, this a taste of my personal zine. I started it at a very strange time in my life. I finished it yesterday afternoon, writing through breakfast and lunch!

I don't have copies yet, but I'd like to make a head count and estimation of how many I need to print at first. Making copies of this long zine is going to take some skills! Please just leave a comment if you are slightly interested.

Thank you,

FAIRE L'AMOUR: Confucius Edition

18 Pages 1/2 size
$1.50 U.S
$3 Outside of U.S.

Ni Hao!

This month we are sporting the fair Confucius. Including within are various poems from Austin kids, a glimpse of my perzine novel (VOLT HAIR FOR VOLTAIRE), hipster anatomy along with an awesome quiz. Also the Faire L'amour guide to Confucius quotes is really sweet (considering I wrote it!)

Issue two has been a smooth and easy experience regardless of April's and I's diverged weekend plans. It seems it is only getting better and more exciting. We are already stewing up issue three: KANT! Assumptions thrown at heterosexuals and ways of living! Be excited!

Hope all is fairing well,
Love and love
Kathy and April

Ps. ALSO the faire l'amour zine gig in Austin at WEFUSE has been changed, the date is pending!!!!! I'm sorry for all this confusion, there's too many conflicting things sometimes. C'est le vie, as annoying as any person who says this in english or french.

DOUBLE ALSO. Hipster of the week will be featured on our myspace soon. www.myspace.com/fairelamourzine
LAST week we met a hipster who worked at a hat shop. hat discounts! (well not really)

TRIPLE ALSO: Feel welcome to send works to us. Our email welcomes all.
